About Your Hotel:
Right in the centre of Mayrhofen, in the Ziller Valley, the Sport & Spa Hotel Strass has a pretty unbeatable location on the main high street. It’s also right next door to the Penken Gondola and just a short walk from the Ahorn gondola, with easy access for mountain walks. Saturday, 10th 10th 2017: Walking with Live Music on the Penken in Mayrhofen
The route takes Penkenbahn cable car up up the Penken Mountain where you walk past a beautiful mountain lake and, after a enjoying some live music on the mountain you head on to the Granat Chapel which is dedicated to the holy Engelbert Kolland from Zillertal. Then return to the beautiful Penken Plateau. The whole walk is accompanied by music! Return to Mayrhofen approx. 4 p.m.
The Zillertal Alps Nature Park – just 10 kms from Mayrhofen – abounds with imposing glaciers, lush meadows and unique forests. The Nature Park is a hiker’s paradise, especially during the summer months. During summer the park offers over 200 guided walks with 30 different themes from wild animal observation to nature photography, there’s really something for everyone. The Zillertal Alps Nature Park offers something for both experienced hikers and children: Trekking with Llamas, children expeditions and forest imp days guarantee fun and variety for the littlest. Guests staying in Mayrhofen) get free participation in all guided walks and entry to all exhibitions. Those accommodations also rent out basic hiking equipment.
